Kurt Orban (1916 - 2006) - Founder
Kurt Orban had a lifetime of experience in the steel trade, with emphasis on services to the wire and tubular industries.
He was a 40-year member of the Wire Association and presented several technical papers at the association's annual conventions. He was one of the founders of what is now the American Wire Producers Association, and the American Institute for International Steel, of which he was president from 1969-1972 and from 1977-1980. He was also a past president of the American Association of Exporters and Importers.
A steel import pioneer, he has introduced into the U.S. market the wire rods of:
- Thyssen-Niederrhein of Germany
- Lachiers of France
- BHP of Australia (on the U.S. East Coast)
- Sumitomo Welding Quality Rods
- Kobe Cold Heading Quality Rods (In 1974, Kobe Steel honored him with its prestigious Tamiyama Award on the occasion of its 70th anniversary, for development of its cold heading rod business and other useful services)

Matt Orban - President
Matt Orban is a Business Graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, and has been with KOP since 1989. His expertise is in Stainless Rod and Wire, as well as Galvanized and Carbon Specialty Wire and Tubular products.
He has introduced into the U.S. market Seamless Tubulars from Nova Hut and from Chomutov Dioss of the Czech Republic, as well as Sanitary Tubes and Fittings from Taiwan and Thailand.
Veronica King - Chief Operating / Financial Officer
Veronica has an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Economics. She has over 15 years experience in business operations and financial management, with companies such as PepsiCo and Marriott.
Yi Dong - Area Sales Manager
Yi has a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Beijing University of Science and Technology and has an MBA from California State University, Sacramento.
He has 9 years of working experience in the Chinese steel industry, both in a government agency and in the Chinese representative office of the Italian steel group, Techint Spa. He has a wide range of connections with steelmakers in China.
George Quintana - Traffic Manager
George Quintana earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and International Business from San Jose State University. George has been in the International Trade business for over 20 years, handling many different goods including paper and optical products. He has many years of experience in management of traffic, shipping, documentation, and logistics.
Mark Bordelon - Purchasing / Inventory Manager
Honorably discharged from U.S. Navy, with advanced electronics training. Worked the last ten years in an administrative capacity in the wire industry, handling receivables, inside sales, customer relations and computer support.
